Leo Crane is a creative producer, artist and educator. Over the past decade, he has been developing a body of work that merges physical and digital media to explore our relationship with technology. By combining traditional artistic disciplines with computer algorithms he investigates what it is to be human in the age of web3

Leo's work includes animated films in charcoal and watercolour, portraits and commissions, and the first ever live opera on the blockchain. His work has been widely exhibited, screened, performed and published, from the V&A and British Library in London to 40ft-high projections in Paris and film festivals across the world.

Leo runs the London-based studio Figuration and teaches at Sotheby's Institute of Art, V&A Academy, British Library and the Heatherley School of Art. He serves on the board of Animate Projects and holds MA (Distinction) in Computer Animation from Bournemouth and MA (Hons) in Classics from Oxford University. He studied painting with Maggi Hambling CBE and is the author of Contemporary Figures in Watercolour (Batsford Books, 2021).
